First Bike, Second Impressions - Still Excellent

This is the second installment/review of this bike. In 1 year of owning this bike I am still satisifed and agree with my past review on 12/8/2008. Now breaking past to 10k mile barrier the bike is still handling like a champ. I've smoothed out the ride with a set of Avon Distanzia tires and added Elf Synthetic oil to the mix which has improved the sound and performance during shifting up or down the scale. No oil burning issues. On the long ride this bike is comfortable even with the stock seat. When climbing hills the lower torque of this bike give the umph needed, this KLR loves to climb, lots of power when needed. Brakes still responding very well (I'm a pretty conservative rider). The current stator/powerplant has supported a variety of items, extra turnsignals/lighting, GPS, HID aux lights, etc., Although I do connect to a battery tender every night just to make sure. If you are looking for an excellent commuter, adventure tourer bike while on a tight budget the KLR650 is an excellent choice. Too many pluses to pass up.

Upgrades/Accessories:  Kisan lighting add-ons: 1. SignalMinder SM-3 module (auto turn signal cancellation, 4-way and escort flasher modes) 2. VectraLight VL-10 LED signal array (mounted on hand guards) 3. TailBlazer 20W-D plug in deceleration warning brake light 4. PathBlazer P115W_DHL headlight modulator 5. ChargeGuard (dynamic volt/amp meter/thermometer, ice warning) 6. Stebel Nauilus airhorn 7. 30 amp relay-protected electrical distribution block for accessories 8. Auxilliary fork-mounted TrailTech Eclipse SCMR16 HID lights with handlebar switch 9. 12v coax powerlet for heated gear 10. 12v SAE Battery tender hookup (great for emergency jump starting) 11. Kawasaki KLR tailbag 12. Tourmaster Cortech saddlebags with self-manufactured protective bracket for the muffler 13. Kawasaki +4 in. windscreen 14. Laminar Lip windscreen (attached to Kawi +4in. screen). 15. Thermo-Bob thermostat recirculation system. 16. Happy Trails PD Nerfbars/Highway pegs. 17. Wolfman Nerbar gear bags. 18. SW Motech centerstand
